East Select soccer mission is to provide competitive options for players in the East attendance district. The teams will be entered into competitive MYSA leagues, play in summer tournaments, and be entered into indoor tournaments at the highest levels possible. The main goal is to develop each player's individual skills to the fullest potential on and off the field, while promoting team play, sportsmanship, and the enjoyment of playing soccer.

ESS Proud to Announce
BLACKWOODS ON THE LAKE
as our Official Gathering Place!

ESS is happy to announce that our partnership with Blackwoods on the Lake is continuing into its second year! The best way for our families to thank Blackwoods is to frequent their establishment: they have great food, a great atmosphere, and as an extra bonus... are in our neighborhood! This year, we are holding a fundraiser in conjunction with Blackwoods. Athletes/families are encouraged to sell $20.00 gift cards; ESS will receive $5.00 for every card sold! Visit their website at http://www.blackwoods.com/ to view their extensive menu, including curbside service. You may call (218)628-0064 (Ext. 103) to purchase cards by credit card... just be sure to mention ESS.

Teams are encouraged to hold their soccer parties at Blackwoods. We want to support those that support our athletes!

Be sure to stop by and say thanks to Blackwoods... at every visit.

Their generous support helps keep our costs down and our spirits up!

Blackwoods

Why ESS
The ESS program will provide another option for players to play at a higher level of soccer. Because ESS is limited to players from the East Club area, more East players can play competitive soccer in our area. Note: All funds stay in the East Select Soccer program and none are given to the Duluth East High School program.

Coaching
The coaches are current of former players with extensive soccer experience at the highest level including high school and college. They are encouraged and supported to advance their level of knowledge by attending MYSA sponsored coaching clinics. They understand the game and know how to teach the skills and techniques that the players will need to play at this high level of competition. They function as role models, coaches, and mentors.

ESS distinguishes itself from other competitive programs by providing teams with extensive exposure to professional coaches from around the world. In the past, we have had coaches from Australia, Slovakia, Wales, England, and Scotland. These coaches have extensive professional experience and are an integral part of the ESS program. Foreign coaches practice with each team on a regular basis and provide support to our own club coaches.

What is Competitive Soccer
Competitive soccer offers local players the opportunity to compete against skilled teams from inside and outside the area.

Competitive soccer includes more practice and development work, and requires more commitment from both players and parents.

Teams could play between 5 and 7 away games in the Twin Cities on weekday evenings.

Ess competitive programs use tryouts or selections to determine which players will participate.

Ess teams may travel to one or more tournaments in the twin cities in addition to the Lake Superior Open hosted by Ess.

All teams involved in this program will recieve foreign professional coaching as a supplement to our own licensed and trained team coaches.
